Amazon chooses Bucharest for its second development centre in Romania

Amazon Web Services (AWS), a subsidiary of global online retailer Amazon, opened its second business centre in Romania. The new AWS technology and development centre is located in Bucharest, where the company plans to attract 650+ employees. Amazon’s new centre will host technology development teams,  language solutions for Alexa (Amazon’s echo speaker), and a testing centre, and they have already concluded partnerships with schools and universities in order to ensure their continuous growth.

Globalworth Campus, located in Pipera, is the home of Amazon’s new headquarter in Bucharest. The 11,300 sqm facility is a new development, with a location that is a top business destination on the Romanian market.

Amazon Web Services is a subsidiary of Amazon that provides on-demand cloud computing platforms to individuals, companies and governments, on a paid subscription basis. They entered the Romanian market in 2005 with the opening of their first development centre in Iasi. Since then, AWS has invested around 100 million euro in Romania, and is planning to grow their workforce in Iasi with 400 new employees in the next three years.
